Chapter Twelve

Chester was less than half an hour away from the small town in Colorado he hoped his wife and kids were hiding out in. He was stiff and weary after driving just over seven hours straight, and when he saw a sign directing him toward accommodations, he decided to stop and get a good night’s sleep. Tomorrow, in the light of day, would be soon enough to drive the rest of the way to Slick Rock. He’d take his time scoping out the town and driving around the county until he’d found the shelter.

As far as he was concerned, Safe Haven wasn’t going to be the sanctuary it was purported to be in the article he’d read. If he could, he’d do as much damage to the place as possible, but first he needed to reconnoiter and make sure it was safe for him to make a move. He wanted the women who ran the sanctuary hurting as much as he was since they were helping his cunt of a wife to keep his kids from him.

Nevertheless, his main goal was getting his bitch and kids back. They were his, and he wasn’t about to let his slut live her life without him at her side. If she managed to get hold of a lawyer and divorced him, he’d have no control over her anymore. That scenario wasn’t acceptable in the least.

She owed him for keeping a fucking roof over her head and giving her food to eat from his hard-earned cash. It was her turn to bring in the bacon. Chester also planned to apply for welfare. Of course he would tell whoever he put the claim into a sob story of how his kids needed to eat, but they wouldn’t see a cent of that and neither would his wife. It was his turn to sit back and take it easy for a while. Busting his gut to make ends meet was no way to live. Maybe while he was in the small, low-populated town, he’d be lucky enough to find some rich bitch to hook up with, but he couldn’t imagine anyone being so far away from the major cities would be cashed up.

That didn’t mean it wasn’t possible though.

Chester parked his car, got out, and stretched his stiff muscles as he stared at the entrance to the inn. Monticello, Utah, was pretty much only a hop, skip, and a jump away from Slick Rock, Colorado.

This time tomorrow, he was hoping to have spotted his kids and wife, but even if he didn’t, he wasn’t giving up until he had his family back.

Once he knew the lay of the land, he would figure out a way to get onto Safe Haven land without raising any suspicions, and when the time was right, he’d make his move.

How hard could it be to get his hands on his slut of a wife and his kids when the shelter was run by women, too?

All women were only good for two things in his eyes.
